Hi, my name is Beti.
I’m an outdoor lover living in a big city.
Welcome to my world!
Find a right job to see the world
From a dishwasher in the middle of nowhere...
I grew up in Poland, in the city of Gdynia by the Baltic Sea. I developed a sense of adventure and passion for travelling at an early age. To be able to explore the world, during my student years I did lots of different jobs. First, I worked in the US washing dishes and as a housekeeper wearing a cute pink uniform. Then, I had an episode in the plastic bucket factory in the middle of nowhere in the Nevada desert, while my main job at that time was being a waitress in a casino’s restaurant. Eventually, I served Japanese food in a teppanyaki restaurant in Cyprus and I learned Italian from my colleagues in the Italian restaurant in London.
... to a corporate job in the Italian fashion capital - Milan
After my graduation – in 2008 I moved to Italy. I got my first corporate job in finance for a notable company in the fashion capital – Milan. The dream came true. Not really, as I never enjoyed my job much. My love for Italy though, its stunning scenery, men and pizza, was stronger than overall dissatisfaction from corporate work, so I continued.
Moving to Asia
Not love at first sight
In 2013 I left my stable life in Italy and got a one-way ticket to Asia. I’ve been living most of the time in Singapore (6 years) and since 2019 in Tokyo. The Asian continent wasn’t love at first sight, oh Italian beautiful squares – I’ve missed you so much, but after a while it kind of got under my skin. I also learned to see the surrounding beauty and stopped comparing. There is something about lack of pavements, chili and ginger mixed spices, motorbike rides through rice fields, evergreen palms and happy faces of people owning often not more than just a smile, that now, I can hardly imagine living far from it all.
Deep love for Asian outdoor adventures
To make up for my city life, I’ve looked for peace of nature during my extensive travels in Asia. I went trekking in Nepal a few times, visited the magical island of Bali on plenty of occasions – it was only a 2,5h flight from Singapore, discovered the underwater world through diving in remote regions of Sabah and West Papua, explored jungles and beaches in most of the South East Asia countries, made Malaysia my weekend getaway destination as it was just around the corner, climbed spectacular Indonesian volcanoes, ate great amounts of Thai street food, fell in love with Mt. Fuji and travelled for weeks in campervan through Outback in Australia as well as glacial lake regions in New Zealand.
Inspiring others to travel more adventurously
I’ve organized many trips for my family and friends coming to visit me often. Having more and more visitors every year – new aunties, usually more adventurous than uncles, and friends returning every year – made me think of writing a travel blog. It was often humid and hot during our travels, the food was sometimes too spicy but no one ever complained. Actually, everyone developed strong feelings for this part of the globe. What’s more, we are still a happy family and bunch of good friends. This made me think I might be good at inspiring people to go beyond their comfort zone when they travel and, what’s more important, brought me a lot of joy.
Nepal - where Betiful World was born
Corporate life in Singapore
The travel blog idea was always in my head. Life in Singapore was just too expensive to quit my finance job and the view from my window’s office was just too good. In short, I had plenty of excuses and not enough guts to leave the safety of the corporate world and do what I really love. Inspire to explore the world. Share my travel experience.
Unexpected lockdown in Nepal
If it wasn’t for the pandemic taking over the world, I would have probably got another corporate job in Tokyo. But my life decided to take an unexpected turn. When in March 2020 I needed to leave Japan due to my expiring visa, I decided to go for a trek in Nepal – my favourite place on Earth. Due to the closed borders the initially planned 1-month trek turned out to be the 8-month “ Nepal 2020 lifetime experience” that changed my life priorities. It is where I finally slowed down, sat down and realised what a happy life is about. This is where Betiful World was born.
What’s my goal?
I want you to travel the world better and go for more adventurous choices.
If you’re well prepared, it’s really easier than you think, and it’s usually absolutely safe! It could be solo trekking in Nepal, camping at the top of the volcano, music festival in Borneo or exploring a different planet popularly called Japan. 🙂
By sharing my knowledge and tricks, I want YOU to fully enjoy YOUR journey. On my way I have met too many people, dissatisfied with their travel choices, unprepared for outdoor adventures, or simply unaware of the hidden, often much better opportunities. It always made me sad as I have always been happy with the travels I organized myself. Therefore, I decided to do something about it, I started this blog. Crowded places, wrong timings, lack of the right equipment – there are many things that can spoil your journey.
I want you to set out into the world well prepared and informed.
Betiful World is a collection of true stories and practical tips that will help you make the right choices to plan your trip well.
Through this blog, I also want to prove, maybe even more to myself than you, that beauty is everywhere. Life often takes us to places where we don’t feel happy at first. You can be an outdoor lover, who enjoys spending time in nature, and live in the biggest city in the world. You might be born by the sea and feel happiest in the mountains. World is beautiful. Happiness is a choice. We just need to shift a bit our perspective.
What is Betiful World about?
Betiful World is about my life & travels, mostly in Nepal and Japan. I’m a great outdoor lover, so you will learn here how to travel to fully enjoy nature and feel the most alive.
It’s about outdoor travel to fully immerse yourself in nature.
Do you want to go hiking, camping or maybe you are ready for a multi-day trek? Don’t worry if it snows, just get your snowshoes. It’s too hot outside? Explore the underwater magic instead. Grab your bicycle, rent a campervan, plan a road trip, take a nap in a hammock on a paradise beach. It’s all much easier than you think, and with the local beer after your adventures, tastes even better. That’s what Betiful World is about.
Hey, but that’s not it. Don’t forget I’ve been living in big flashy Asian cities and I learnt how to happily get by despite the heat, the humidity, the language barrier and lack of Neapolitan pizza. Interested in short city breaks, tired of noodles and hoping to find a decent pizza (yes, it can be found in Asia!), trying not to get lost in the busiest train systems in the world?
Life in a big Asian city – that’s Betiful World as well!
What makes Betiful World special? Why should you stick around?
Most of the travel blogs I’ve come across are written from the perspective of a temporary observer – tourist or traveler. Betiful World is a bit different. I have been living in Asia for 9 years.
If you’re looking for local travel advice from a reliable source, you’ve come to the right place.
But I need to admit that the more I travel, the more I realize how little I know about the world, which probably comes with age. 🙂 On the other hand, I feel that I have a relatively vast and interesting experience in travelling through Asia, which you can take advantage of, hence the idea for this blog.
At Betiful World, you will only read about places I know well and I’m comfortable writing about, destinations that left imprints on me, countries I’ve lived or visited many times. You will be able to get real local insights and practical information to plan your travel adventures easily.
Betiful World is not about checking off the bucket list as I finally came to the conclusion that this list will never end and will only get longer. It’s about right travel choices to make every minute of your journey memorable.
How to navigate through Betiful World?
